We have some very cool wildlife on camp and at the beach. I wanted to share some of it with you. We have recently discovered the Desert Foxes. They are so cool. You can see them at dusk and dawn out in the jebels. They are not agressive and I just love their ears! Then there are the hoppee birds. They are hard to get near. We had one in our front yard the other day eating a bug. At the beach we saw a dead sea snake and we always see whatever that bird is. Last are my parrots!

BACON, BACON, BACON
I realize bacon may not sound like a big deal. But it is not legal to purchase in Saudi Arabia. I brought it back from Bahrain under my feet, under my abaya. It came in wrapped as chicken, and turkey. Ironically it is not illegal to bring back in kingdom but you still run the risk of them taking it from you. (This is the logic free zone.) The kids were super excited!! The woke up early asking for the bacon for breakfast. You would have thought the Easter bunny or Santa Clause had arrived. They were super excited! They went around all morning (at derby) saying we have "REAL" pork bacon!! We are enjoying it and now that we know where the store is hopefully won't have a shortage again!

Girls Gone Wild Bahrain Style
I headed over to Bahrain with my friends for a girls day out. The night before we left we got this warning:
- Please be aware of the following planned demonstration activity:
- From Wednesday 16 May through to Saturday 19 May, disruption on the roads during peak traffic hours. This may including activity similar to that during the week of 6 May 2012, in which press reported suspect packages causing road closures. We also expect other protests and disruption in various areas of Bahrain to continue through the coming days. As a result, we continue to advise British nationals in Bahrain to maintain a high level of security awareness and to exercise caution, particularly in public places and on the roads, and to avoid large crowds and demonstrations.
We chose to ignore it and go anyway. We get a lot of warnings for Bahrain. They are not yet stable. Thankfully other than a lot of graffiti and barbwire where there use to be none we saw nothing out of the ordinary.
The advantage of going to Bahrain are no abayas, alcohol and pork are legal! We did some shopping at the malls and souk, ate at Senior Pacos and than picked up pork on the way back. Thankfully they didn't check the back seats under all our feet on the way home. We had a wonderful time and can't wait to do it again!
