Our friend Nicoli had taken Lily with him to Ogair / Uqayr while Thomas was still in the hospital. After seeing the photos I really wanted to go. So we headed out on a Friday morning (their equivalent of Sunday) with the Weavers and Nicoli, Michelle & Elsie. It is about an hour and a half drive through no mans land to get here. When we arrived the gates were locked. We found a man who said he didn't have a key. Once Donna, kids and I started looking around for a hole in the fence he magically found a key and unlocked it for us. We had the place to ourselves and everyone had a ball looking around. The boys found sheep skulls which they of course needed to keep. Uqayr is an old fort and customs house so we were only able to get into the fort bit. We looked around the fence of the customs house, the kids played by the water a bit and then we headed over to see the tower which use to protect the well. After that we headed back for home. Along the way we found a car which had run of gas, gave them some and headed on. We stopped at Qurrayyah beach on the way home to have lunch. It is another Aramco beach and was very nice. We had never been here. The kids loved it because they have about six different parks. It was a wonderful day!
